"I must have painted at least twenty pictures in this little park in London. Before this painting, however, I had always painted there in the summer or the fall.
On the Sunday evening near Christmas when I started this painting, it had just begun to snow. The bare trees and the lights through the snow made an irresistible and romantic scene.
The little church was once attended by U.S. armed forces which were headquartered nearby. Though this is a London scene, you could imagine it to be almost anywhere in the world."
