"Based on a concept by Disney story man and my good friend, artist Don DaGradi, we made chimney smoke a way to climb up higher for an even more spectacular view as the sun sets over London bringing to a close a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day."
— Peter Ellenshaw
Ellenshaw received an Academy Award® for his visual effects work on this classic film. One of the effects scenes was this creation of a smoke staircase, allowing Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews) to show the chimney sweep, Bert (Dick Van Dyke) and the Bank's children a spectacular view of the sun going down over London.
