About Michael C. Ellenshaw

BORN IN HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA in 1978, Michael C. Ellenshaw grew up in an artistic "showbiz" family. The Ellenshaws achieved distinction behind the camera in the film industry. Michael's father, visual effects artist Harrison Ellenshaw (Star Wars, The Black Hole, The Empire Strikes Back, Tron, Dick Tracy), grandfather, Oscar® winner Peter Ellenshaw (Mary Poppins, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Black Hole) and aunt, Lynda Ellenshaw Thompson (Ghostbusters, Tron, Poltergeist II, Dick Tracy, Snow White and the Huntsman) all contributed to an atmosphere of creative legacy that influenced Michael from an early age. He would spend many hours painting alongside his grandfather in his Santa Barbara studio.

At the age of 8, Michael was given an aging and very well-used electric guitar. His early influences were Michael Jackson, Christopher Cross, Bob Marley, The Urge, 311, Reel Big Fish and Fishbone. Eventually he became a production assistant for Nick Hexum of the band 311. But he continued to paint and draw as well as play his music. After years of being in a number of bands, Ellenshaw struck out on his own determined to express his unique musical style with his own band, MCE.

Formed in Hollywood, CA in 2007 and including drummer Sammy J. Watson; bassist Justin Aspergis; vocalist Brian "Hacksaw" Williams and vocalist Jo Nagle, this diverse group of musicians has come together to play a fun blend of rock, ska and reggae. MCE released its first 4 song EP "Special Release" in December 2008. Since then, they continue to play at clubs and venues on the West Coast garnering rave reviews.

Michael Ellenshaw has been working on some new music and has recently released a second  EP, ‘MCE II’ which is now available on iTunes and CD Baby.
